Happy Birthday Matt!

Today is Matt's birthday!! I love birthdays!!!! We are celebrating tonight by going to the Timberwolves game. This morning we brought Matt breakfast in bed!

I'm so thankful and blessed to have such a wonderful husband! I love being married to him!! He is my most favorite person to be with and I would choose him again and again. It almost feels like it's not true that I really did end up with this life with such a great husband and great kids!! Even when I dreamt about it as a little girl, it wasn't this wonderful!!!

Happy Birthday Matt!

He's in Addis

Great news! I found out today that Durant is in Addis at the care center of my agency. This means things are really moving along. Now we wait for a court date which could happen in the next 2-3 weeks. That means after a successful court date, Durant is officially ours and I will be able to post his picture and start showing him to people!! We are so excited!

Just waiting...

So, there is some talk about the children from Durant's orphanage being moved this week! That would be so great if he gets moved. Then he should get a court date a few weeks after that. If all goes that fast and smooth, I could be bringing him home in May!! That's just a possibility, but it's still exciting to think about. Either way, it's getting very close. That makes me think of all I have yet to do!! We need bunk beds, double stroller, car seat, and a new vehicle that will fit our bigger family!!
How exciting!! I'll keep you posted...

What a great big brother...

Just wanted to share a cute picture from our trip to the Zoo this week! Carter is helping his little sister look at the polar bear, except he can't lift her high enough to see. It was very cute watching him try!!

Family Fun!

Yesterday and today we got to spend time at Three Bear's Lodge. An indoor water park about an hour from our house. Our good friends invited us to go along with them and payed for it all!! What great friends we have and what a blessing. It was a lot of fun and it was one more thing we could do as a family of four. Since we've only been a family of four for 15 months and will become a family of five in a couple of months, I think it's very important to do some special things for just the four of us. So we had a blast going down water slides, going around the lazy river, and playing in the wave pool. Carter and Ana both love the water!! They couldn't get enough. So thank you to our wonderful friends for allowing us to make another special family memory. We can't wait until Durant is home so we bring him there to make some more memories.

Kids are awesome!

I was talking with my six year old son today about how our family is made up of all different skin colors. And when his brother is here we will have three different counries that we are all from. I was telling him how some people don't understand why we are doing that and Carter said, "I don't care, I just want him home!"
I love how he just keeps it simple and doesn't care what others think. He's such a great kid! I learn so much from him!

Pressure is on

Well, now that I know my webBoard friends will be checking out my blog, I'd better get bloggin. Of course, right now I can't think of anything to blog about. I do want to say I have really enjoyed meeting so many new friends through my agency. My husband makes fun of how often I'm on the webBoard checking it to make sure I'm not missing anything!! So to those of you from the webBoard that are reading this, thank you so much for your friendship!!!

I'm kinda scared

So I know there are many things for me to be nervous about when it comes to this adoption, but I have to say one of my biggest fears is about the first time I'll meet Durant. Since he isn't a little baby, he's going to be aware of the fact that he was just handed over to a lady he doesn't know. I guess I just worry that he'll be scared of me. I wonder what he'll think when he leaves with me and stays overnight with me, a stranger. How scary is that going to be for him? I just want him to be able to feel safe and I know that will take some time.
I guess if I really should be worried about something, it should be the 20 hour plane ride with a 1 1/2 year old who doesn't speak the same language as me!!!!!!

Accepted the referral!!

Now that we've accepted the referral of an adorable little boy, we wait. We've decided that his name will be Durant. We need to wait now for him to be moved from his orphanage to our agency's foster house. Not sure how long that will be so still hard to guess on a timeframe for him coming home.
They tell you not to fall in love with your referral because he's not offically yours until after the court date, but wow, it's pretty hard to not fall in love when your looking into those beautiful dark brown sad eyes. I just want to hold him and tell him everything is going to be alright....
