Why is this adoption different?

A little over a year ago, we had the amazing privilege of bringing our daughter home from Guatemala. The experience was amazing!! Ana is now 21 months old and such a joy to have in our family. Her older brother and her have so much love for each other. We started the process a little less then two years ago. When we told our families they were very excited and supportive of us!
Fast forward to the present day. We are adopting again, but this time from Ethiopia. When we told our families this time, the reaction was much different. Silence. A lack of interest from several family members.
It's hard for me not to wonder why? Is it because it's so soon to adopt again? Is it because it's Ethiopia? Is it because we will now have three children that have three different ethnic backgrounds?
My husband and I are well aware that the choices we have made are not traditional or even common to most people, but I still think we deserve the respect to make those decisions.
We are just trying to stay in God's favor and follow His will for our lives.

we got a lot of the same reactions too, already having so many little kids and adopting more. now that the kids have been home 8 months, people keep their mouths shut! they see how this is exactly what gods plan was for our family! and they love ben and joseph to death! oh, i got your blog address off the webboard-good luck on the rest of your journey!
